Price around the results

Revenue growth did not convert into operating profit

Zydus Lifesciences' consolidated revenue grew 29.17% year on year, but expenses increased 46.45%, causing operating profit to decline 6.02%. Profit before tax fell 25.46% as interest expense rose 84.6% and depreciation doubled year on year. Net profit consequently declined 25.1%, with EPS down 25.82%.

Margins slipped again as costs outpaced sales

Operating margin narrowed 8.97 percentage points year on year because costs grew faster than revenue, and slipped another 0.12 percentage points sequentially as revenue fell 1.34% while expenses declined only 1.19%. The 23.95% margin is below the 24.07% recorded in Q1FY27 and follows the fall from 33.67% in Q4FY26, marking two consecutive quarterly declines. Other income contributed 12.58% of pre-tax profit, while the 0.35-percentage-point year-on-year tax-rate reduction provided only a limited offset.

India branded formulations and new products were focus areas

Management said India branded formulations grew 19% year on year in Q2FY27 and that its Indian Consumer Wellness brands retained dominant market share. The company said it launched five products in North America and continued investing in a resilient product portfolio. Management also reported organic capex of Rs 4,655 million and said its emerging-markets strategy was focused on therapy-led, market-specific offerings.
