Price around the results

Lower costs and interest drove the Q2 rebound

These consolidated Q2FY27 results show revenue growing +9.50% QoQ against expense growth of +3.83%, lifting operating profit by +172.76% and expanding the margin by 5.00 percentage points. Interest costs fell -53.32%, which amplified the improvement in pre-tax profit despite the tax rate rising 3.75 percentage points. Profit quality was partly supported by other income, which accounted for 22.16% of pre-tax profit.

Alcohol improved, but ethanol economics remain difficult

Management said alcohol earnings improved through higher grain-based ethanol dispatches, better DDGS realisations and operating efficiencies. It also said H1 production was lower year on year to align with offtake, storage constraints and the shift away from B-Heavy molasses ethanol. The presentation flags that the ESY 2026-27 tender excludes sugarcane-based ethanol, while lower maize-ethanol pricing, firmer maize costs and industry capacity may pressure margins and utilisation.

Water execution lagged its order book

Management said water revenue declined because of slow execution of certain EPC jobs. The business had a closing order book of Rs 1,452 cr as of September 30, 2026, including Rs 1,048 cr of extended-duration O&M contracts. Management also said it is evaluating international opportunities in the water sector.

Margin recovered from Q1 but remained below peers

Operating margin rose from 3.36% in Q1FY27 to 8.36% in Q2FY27, reversing the prior quarter's weak profitability. Even after the rebound, the margin was 2.95 percentage points below the 11.31% median among 36 FMCG peers that had reported the quarter, placing Triveni 15th from the bottom. The results were filed after market close, so there is no reported market reaction yet.
