Price around the results

Revenue momentum did not translate into higher profit

Diffusion Engineers reported consolidated revenue of Rs 125.93 cr in Q2FY27, up 14.37% QoQ, while operating profit rose 17.60% to Rs 16.64 cr. Net profit fell 23.56% to Rs 12.75 cr because other income dropped 85.16% to Rs 1.27 cr. The company told investors that sustained demand across its business segments supported the quarter.

Operating margin edged up despite cost pressures

Revenue grew faster than expenses, which rose 13.91%, so operating margin expanded by 0.36 percentage points to 13.21%. Management said geopolitical uncertainty and supply-chain disruption increased input costs, while higher energy and logistics costs also affected margins. The lower tax rate, down 0.96 percentage points to 16.21%, partly cushioned the earnings decline, but other income still represented 8.34% of pre-tax profit.

Margin remained above the peer median

The company's operating margin was 2.13 percentage points above the 11.08% median for 113 Industrials companies that had reported the same quarter. Sequentially, margin improved from 12.85% in Q1FY27; the available quarter-by-quarter record therefore shows an improvement, not a multi-quarter decline. EPS fell 24.16% QoQ to Rs 3.39, reflecting the fall in net profit.

Expansion remains the key management message

Management said major capital expenditure is nearing completion and that the proposed expansion is expected to commence in Q3 FY27. The company said these investments are expected to improve manufacturing capacity, operating efficiency and execution capabilities. Management also said it is focusing on cost optimisation, resource utilisation, product development and technological capabilities while monitoring input-cost volatility and energy prices.
