Price around the results

Revenue growth did not convert into operating profit

Consolidated revenue rose 32.04% YoY and 9.22% QoQ, but operating profit grew only 16.59% YoY and declined 1.72% sequentially. Expenses grew faster than revenue in both comparisons, narrowing operating margin by 3.38 percentage points YoY and 2.84 percentage points QoQ to 25.50%. The sequential margin decline came despite the 9.22% rise in revenue.

Depreciation and tax movements shaped reported profit

Depreciation increased 79.62% YoY and 27.60% QoQ, while interest rose 25.57% YoY, limiting the conversion of operating profit into pre-tax profit. Other income contributed 10.28% of pre-tax profit, so reported earnings were not entirely operating in nature. Sequentially, the tax rate fell 4.98 percentage points to 9.46%, helping net profit remain almost unchanged even as pre-tax profit declined 5.44%.

Margin remains above peers but below last year's level

The 25.50% operating margin was 13.27 percentage points above the 12.23% median for the 188 Consumer Discretionary peers that had reported the same quarter. The latest margin is below 28.88% in Q2FY26 and 28.34% in Q1FY27, but above 25.03% in Q4FY26. This quarter therefore reverses the Q1 rebound rather than marking a third consecutive quarterly decline.

Management points to expansion and operating-control initiatives

Management said it is targeting FY30 revenue of Rs 63-65 billion and plans to expand residency and citizenship programmes across geographies through Citizenship Invest. The company told analysts that it is investing in technology to streamline visa processing and improve operational efficiency, while shifting from a partner-run to a self-managed model to gain more control. Management also said Citizenship Invest's return on investment had remained subdued because of local restrictions and is expected to improve to approximately 10% as those restrictions ease.

The market reaction was close to its usual range

BLS shares fell 2.32% on the result date, with the stock opening 2.27% below the prior close and underperforming by 3.90%. Across eight recent results, the stock rose after five and fell after three, while the median absolute move was 2.44%, making this reaction broadly ordinary for the company.
