Price around the results

Revenue growth did not translate into operating-profit growth

Arvind reported standalone revenue growth of 19.09% year on year to Rs 2,145.72 cr, but expenses increased faster at 21.04%. That spread limited operating-profit growth to 1.87%, despite the higher revenue base. Sequentially, revenue rose 17.44% and operating profit increased 48.47% from Q1FY27.

Sequential margin recovery, but quality of profit needs scrutiny

Operating margin improved 1.83 percentage points sequentially as revenue grew faster than expenses, but it fell 1.47 percentage points year on year. Net profit growth was also supported by a tax-rate reduction of 5.43 percentage points year on year. Other income contributed 35.65% of pre-tax profit, making the quarter's earnings mix less reliant on operations than the net-profit figure alone suggests.

Margin remains below both last year and the peer median

The operating margin has now recovered from 6.89% in Q1FY27, after declining from 10.19% in Q2FY26 to 8.64% in Q4FY26. It was still 4.58 percentage points below the 13.30% median for the 83 Consumer Discretionary peers that had reported. This leaves Q2FY27 as a sequential improvement, but not a return to the margin level seen a year earlier.

Management flags capacity additions alongside cost pressure

Management said persistent raw-material cost escalation continues to pressure margins, while higher logistics costs and supply-chain disruption caused mixed buying patterns despite good consumer demand. The company said the fourth Needle Felt Non-Woven line was commissioned, adding annual revenue potential of about Rs 70 cr, and that the CSM line and carbon pultrusion facility went live in Q2. Management also said ongoing capex programmes are expected to exceed Rs 500 cr in FY27 and that the textile segment is expected to deliver early double-digit revenue growth with margins at current levels.
